I've been incredibly ill lately. I had been suffering from an odd series of symptoms and they were getting progressively worse.
I was suffering from abdominal pains, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and loss of appetite. I didn't understand what my body was going through. At first, I thought it was just pre-menstrual cramps so I had waited a week before going to the doctors. Big mistake. I was in so much pain that I could barely walk. I went to the doctors on Thursday and had to stay over night. I was poked and prodded over ten times with needles. It was horrible. I'm usually laid back and calm, but by the time my mom picked me up the next day I broke down from all the stress.
My friend's had dropped me off at the hospital about 30 minutes away from my home. They had stayed in the waiting room until 7:30pm (I had been there since 3:30pm). I told them that I wouldn't get out until at least 10:00pm (that didn't happen) and sent them home. My mom found out that was admitted into the hospital but was not able to drive out. So, I was alone in the hospital for quite awhile. A very good friend of mine drove out and stayed with me from 10:00pm until 7:30am the next day. He made my stay better and easier to deal with.
It took three nurses to find a vein to draw blood. All together, two days in the hospital, three nurses, four doctors, one surgeon, six vials of blood, two bags of IV solution, three different types of medication for both pain, nausea, and dizziness, and many jokes between one nurse and I, they figured that nothing was wrong and sent me home with antibiotics and a bunch of pain killers. Nothing much has changed, but I'm feeling better so, maybe whatever was attacking my body has died.
Getting back to school has been tough. I cannot remember how to do certain things and other things just seem so easy. Missing a weekend and a half of school is not okay. It has been a tough year but I hope that I still can pass this year.
Very interesting story. It seems a little unrealistic that cramps would send a person to have surgery done, but definitely unique.
ReplyDeleteThey believed it was appendicitis so I had to go through some tests just to make sure my appendix wasn't about to explode.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had to endure that much suffering. I remember recently I had horrible back pains for no reason, and it hurt so much I could barely write, let alone walk and chew gum. That pain no doubt pales in comparison to what you felt, and as an individual who hasn't endured much pain, I can only wonder what you felt. I hope you feel better. P.S. I looked over the symptoms again and they seem to indicate stress. I'm no expert, but that was just what it seemed like to me.
ReplyDeleteFor a lack of a better comment, I sincerely hope that you feel better and that all your pains go away.
ReplyDeleteIt's alright really. I am done and over with the pain! God knows I am the biggest stress bug ever. So, yeah. But I'm sorry you had to deal with back pain! I feel like that's the worse there is. I have a high tolerance for pain, it was just annoying to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better! I remember when I was little, they thought I had malaria in the Philippines and nurses were in and out of my room piercing needles through my skin and what not. I don't remember all the details because I was like 5 years-old but i remember crying a lot. I've always hated hospitals after that horrible experience.
ReplyDeleteI just remember when I was in the philippines, I throw up like ten times when I was 3 or 5 years old and I went to the hospital because I feel worse.
ReplyDeleteAwww I hope you feel better. Cramps are the worst thing known to man. I actually had cramps last Monday and I couldn't do anything. I always feel like dying when I get cramps.
ReplyDeleteCramps really are the worst. They're painful and take forever to go away. I hope you feel better!
